Belong

SONG LYRICS

Each little piece of fabric plays a role
A single puzzle piece that fills a hole
An interweaving mesh of old and new
Each tiny link can start or end with you

Come one, come all
And we’ll build something that’s bigger than us all
Arise! Sound the call!
We’ll create something that time cannot dissolve

We’ll be working on this cloth throughout our lives
Connecting every strand through ages of time
And it will be a shelter through every storm
A blanket to protect and keep us warm

Come one, come all
And we’ll build something that’s bigger than us all
Arise! Sound the call!
We’ll create something that time cannot dissolve

And when the world returns to dust and hope is gone
There’ll be a special place where each of us belongs

Each little piece of fabric plays a role
A single puzzle piece that makes us whole

Come one, come all
And we’ll build something that’s bigger than us all
Arise! Sound the call!
We’ll create something that time cannot dissolve

And when the world returns to dust and hope is gone
There’ll be a special place where you and I belong
Where you and I belong

ARTIST INTERVIEW
DESCRIPTION

We are surrounded by many people everyday who play a part in our journey through life and we play a part in theirs. We also have many predecessors that have gone before us who have played a role in who we are today and now we play a role in who they are remembered as today. As we do family history, we are weaving a fabric where no one is left out and no one is forgotten. Each individual is a child of God and they offer something unique and valuable. We need them and they need us. In a world where so many things deteriorate and fall apart with the passing of time, the connections we make with the people that matter most can be a strength and refuge forever.

I hope whoever listens to my song Belong finds motivation and encouragement to reach out and make connections through learning about and remembering their ancestors and also through building meaningful relationships now with the people that they meet along their path in life. I also pray for anyone who wonders where their place is, or if they have a place at all, that they will know they belong. They have truly always belonged and that will never change!
