SONG LYRICS

Get along little dogie
Giddyup good ol’ pony
We’re movin’ the herd
Through God’s Golden Fields

Our earth lives were short ones
But we sure got some things done
Now we’re movin’ the herd
Through God’s Golden Fields

Don’t worry ‘bout us
We’re doin’ just fine
The sky is so blue
The air smells like pine

Now we know God’s a cowpoke
He’s just like us country folk
We’re movin’ the herd
Through God’s Golden Fields

Rock of Ages cleft for me
Let me hide myself in Thee…

Don’t worry ‘bout us
We’re doing just fine
The sky is so blue
The air smells like pine.

Get along little dogie
Giddyup good ol’ pony
We’re movin’ the herd
Through God’s Golden Fields

Forever..movin’ that herd through God’s Golden Fields

DESCRIPTION
This song has story. Most songs have a story, I guess. But this story hits close to home. In 2017 we had tremendous wildfires in the Texas panhandle. Over 500,000 acres were burned with great losses of livestock and property. But even more, we lost 4 people in that fire; Cody Crockett, Sydney Wallace, Sloan Everett and Cade Koch. Cody and Sydney were boyfriend and girlfriend and Sloan was their best friend. Cody, Sydney and Sloan lost their lives trying to save their cattle and horses. Cody was the son of my wife’s co-teacher in our little school. So, we were hit pretty hard. We live in a town of 740 people so everyone was deeply affected. After some restless nights, I wrote this song to honor their memory. It’s called God’s Golden Fields.
