SONG LYRICS

HEAR ME IN HEAVEN

Intro: Mom mended his jeans and climbed up the stairs, but she stopped at the door when she heard him say his prayers (I have this demo without the intro too)

I started first grade in September
I’m getting’ all A’s and B’s
My new friend Tom showed me how to fish
But so far I’ve only caught trees

Gramma’s lettin’ me dig a garden
Next to the barn in her yard
Mom helped me fix the fence you built
Oh boy, She can hammer hard, but—

DAD IF YOU CAN HEAR ME IN HEAVEN—I MISS YOU TONIGHT
WE’RE DOWN IN GEORGIA WITH GRAMMA-WE’RE STARTIN’ OUR NEW LIFE (SHE SAYS THE FISHIN’S OUTTA SIGHT)
BUT DAD, IF YOU CAN HEAR ME IN HEAVEN—ME AND MOM ARE DOIN’ ALRIGHT

When you see him say “Hi” to Granpa
I heard he fought just like you
Mom prays when I’m a grown up man
We’ll have no wars to go to

Our preacher called and stayed for dinner
He prayed for all those above
So while my eyes were closed up tight
I sent you my special love

DESCRIPTION
This song features a young boy talking to his father in Heaven and telling him that he misses him but that he and his mother are doing OK. I wrote this because I thought of all the children who are losing their Mothers or Fathers because of a war.
