SONG LYRICS

Why don’t you laugh
Why don’t you smile
Why don’t you show your happy face
Once in a while

Why don’t you purr
Why must you growl
Why must you meow and scratch and bite
Why must you howl

You’re a saddy cat
A saddy, saddy cat
You’re a saddy cat
A saddy saddy cat
You’re a saddy cat
A saddy saddy cat
You’re a saddy cat
A saddy saddy cat

Why don’t you laugh
Why don’t you smile
Why don’t you show your happy face
Once in a while

You’re a saddy cat
A saddy, saddy cat
You’re a saddy cat
A saddy saddy cat
You’re a saddy cat
A saddy saddy cat
You’re a saddy cat
A saddy saddy cat

DESCRIPTION
The song Saddy Cat is about a sad cat, but deliberately a metaphor for asking 'are you OK?" by having the lyric asking the subject why it is sad. It is very much about connecting with someone who seems down and showing enough interest in them to care. I wrote the lyrics and music but the singers are 12 year old school kids as is the percussionist, keyboardist, rhythm and lead guitarist. Is was not an official school-based project, but the school certainly encouraged us to finish the project.
