Fall on Me

The Same Coin

A reflection in these difficult times of staying connected with your best friends. Even though we’re dispersed across the country, our past, present and future will always connect us.

Bring Joy

Bring Joy

I wrote and recorded “Bring Joy” to express my gratitude to my ancestors. They have brought so much joy into my life. As I work on my family history, I learn so much from them and am strengthened by their examples. Sometimes, it feels to me as if they are watching from heaven and showering me with joy and love.

Not One Without the Other

Not One Without the Other

Through this song we tried to capture the experience of discovering family members through family history. The experience of traveling on an airplane to meet a long-lost family member embodies the emotions that beginners feel as they struggle to navigate through the world of family history as well as the joy they feel when they find someone.

My wife, Julia, and I wrote this song together.

Multigenerational Family

Multigenerational Family

I wrote this song to encourage youth to reflect on what their previous family generations were like at their age and how family history helps keep connections strong.
My brother and his wife, Jake and Melissa Garling and their six children sang an acapella version for this submission.
The artwork is a photo of my grandmother in her 4-H club hat as a youth, an organization that her great-grandchildren belong to also.

Water in the desert

Water in the desert

a christian pilgrim song. A prayer to God for help – no water, dry barren land.

Family Through The Ages

Family Through The Ages

My ancestors probably thought their life was plain and ordinary, but I don’t see it that way. I see them with courage and determination. Not afraid to leave everything behind in search of something better. Working so hard just to feed the family yet, they were happy and felt blessed.

Having lost my husband a year and a half ago, I feel him near. Watching over me and protecting me. I know that those who have gone on still care about us and want to help us. We are connected to them more than we realize. I am beyond grateful for my ‘Family Through the Ages.’
