SONG LYRICS

I was putting on my boots
heading out of town
was gonna find myself some space
but a feelin deep inside
made me stop and turn around
to see once more the riches
of this godforsaken town

My soul lies here now
My soul lies here now
Never will I roam
for it made me what I am today
Never will I roam, for it made what I am today

When I was a child
they had me workin on the land
it soon became a part of me
I’ve tried to turn away
but something turns me back around
to see once more the riches
of this godforsaken town

My soul lies here now
My soul lies here now
Never will I roam
for it made me what I am today
Never will I roam, for it made what I am today

DESCRIPTION
As a teacher working in a remote rural QLD town, my song 'This Town' was inspired by the many young people who lived there. Often they would be heard discussing the many challenges and dislike for the place. Many would leave only to find themselves returning back to the town where they continue to call home. Recorded in a home studio in Moranbah by Greg and Tracy Sweetman, 1999 - Just for fun! Songwriter: Julie Savage Lyrics: Julie Savage Produced and mixed by a student named Jan Johnston. Guitar: Jan Johnston Vocals: Tracy Sweetman
